Wrexham Council
It has long been the strategic ambition of Wrexham Council and Welsh Government to secure the completion of a dual carriageway from the A483 trunk road to Wrexham Industrial Estate (WIE), the home for major businesses such as JCB and Kelloggs and the most important employment location in the area.
We were asked to prepare a justification – on economic and regeneration grounds – for the compulsory purchase of land needed to extend and widen the highway arrangements serving WIE from the A483 and also from the south. We prepared the case and presented it the Public Inquiry for the CPO.
Simultaneously, we also prepared the economic and regeneration impact statement that accompanied the Council’s bid to the Welsh Assembly Government for £17 million of grant funding as a contribution towards the building of the road.
Result
Both the CPO case and the funding bid were successful, and the new road opened in July 2012.
